“Human Prolactin: Some Historical Aspects and Contemporary Issues”  

by Prof Peter Hwang, Professorial Fellow, Department of Physiology, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore.

SYNOPSIS

This presentation will trace early controversies about the existence of prolactin in man, the story of its purification from human pituitary glands, and the development of a specific radioimmunoassay for measuring prolactin levels in human blood.  In addition, selected clinical problems of hyperprolactinemia and prolactinomas encountered today will also be discussed.
