SYNOPSIS
This presentation will trace early controversies about the existence of prolactin in man, the story of its purification from human pituitary glands, and the development of a specific radioimmunoassay for measuring prolactin levels in human blood. In addition, selected clinical problems of hyperprolactinemia and prolactinomas encountered today will also be discussed.
