​Established in 1971, EMSS was initially formed by a group of pioneering endocrinologists and metabolic specialists who recognised the need for a dedicated body to address the growing prevalence of endocrine and metabolic disorders in Singapore. Since its founding, the society has represented a diverse membership, including educators, clinical practitioners, and researchers in this field.

As the de facto national body for endocrinology, EMSS supports its members through a range of initiatives aimed at advancing clinical standards, education, and research in the field. The society actively collaborates with academic institutions, healthcare organisations, and government agencies, serving as a key voice on policy issues related to endocrine and metabolic health.

Over the years, EMSS has launched several important educational programmes, conferences, and workshops, equipping healthcare professionals with the latest knowledge and best practices in endocrine and metabolic medicine.
